History

"Bloom of the Lotus"

The Aizawa family was one of many sorcerer families that appeared during the Heian era of Japan. During the booming renaissance of sorcery, the Aizawa clan remained notable for one thing: their size. The Aizawa family valued strength above all else, almost to a fault; if you were seen as weak by their metric, you would be branded and deemed as “Raba” (mule or donkey basically) and exiled from interaction with other members of the clan. Many tried to avoid this branding, but throughout the years it became hard to tell who was deemed Raba out of metric, our just out of pure disdain. This worry, however, wouldn’t hold back Jihei. Jihei Aizawa was held in high regard amongst his clan, avoiding the mark of Raba for his entire life. How you may ask? Well, Jihei was brought up into a life of training; his father passing down the art of archery to his son.For years afterwards, Jihei honed his skills to a frightening degree; at one point during training, another clan member spotted Jihei splitting an entire boulder with just one arrow! The man didn’t know whether to be amazed or concerned as this level of strength was only seen by top sorcerers. Eventually his prowess in archery and cursed energy became too great to ignore, with the head of the Aizawa clan eventually marking Jihei as a Pillar (head warrior) of the Aizawa clan. For years Jihei honored this title, being sent to battle multiple times in the name of his clan. After almost 3 decades of conquest on their behalf he began to stagnate and become bored, wondering if his existence was just to be a tool of war. He had never gotten the luxury of a battle without death or conquest; every arrow shot was to instill fear in others, and every punch or kick was thrown with the intent to conquer. One day, Jihei received an order to scout a small encampment of sorcerers for his clan to determine how strong the residents were. During his reconnaissance, he encountered a man who was quite beautiful despite a very large scar gracing the upper part of his head. Before Jihei could prepare himself to be on the offensive, the man greeted him with pleasantries!“I see you’re already prepared to attack, there’s something about that level or eagerness to act that I can almost admire!” The man let out a small chuckle, Jihei confused as to what he could possibly find humorous in this current moment. Before Jihei could say anything, the man began to speak again“That scruffy beard and those fatigued eyes, you haven’t had a moment to yourself have you? Here, take a seat! I actually want to talk to you.”As Jihei sat, he maintained a level of caution; he wasn’t used to such odd hospitality.“I’ve known about you for some years now, Jihei. Many sorcerers speak highly of you, but I’m sure you’re not supprised by that given the reputation of your clan!”Jihei groaned, but the man continued to speak:“Now I know that your clan makes quite the point about strength, but do you think strength is all that makes a good warrior?”Jihei pondered the question before finally opening his mouth. “Well of course not. I didn’t get to this point off of pure strength, but off of diligence and determination to make a name for myself.”The man smiled, almost to an unsettling amount. “That’s perfect! Now how would you feel about meeting people that have similar ideals? I have a theory that as these warring periods continue, the following generations will develop different ideals behind why they fight. Many sorcerers think strength and overflowing energy are the only things that make a great sorcerer, but it seems as though you’re on the same page as me in thinking there’s more to it. So I ask you this one question; would you like to see this renaissance? Or are you comfortable with the current culture?”After hearing how passionate the man spoke of his ideals, Jihei smirked and nodded; agreeing to the proposal of seeing the renaissance of cursed society; he was not aware of the change that would occur…

Watch the Lotus blossom!

During the Heian Era, Jihei was known as the greatest archer of his time. His archery prowess improved his ability to control the circulation of blood and oxygen throughout his body. He then extended this to his cursed energy; allowing Jihei to amplify A specific part of his part of his body with ALL of his cursed energy while leaving the rest of his body vulnerable. He can also imbune ANY object with his cursed energy, but he's unable to amplify his own body while doing so.

Normally used as a final resort, Jihei can extend the range of Condensed Clash to ALL of his limbs, providing an immense boost to his attack potency. While doing this however, Jihei must hold his breath; luckily his time as an archer taught him how to properly train his breathing, making him able to hold his breath for up to five minutes.
